A Better Pace…
Our plan is working. We made it off the highway, and out of traffic and we’re managing to slow ourselves down a bit. We’re having a great time, and at a much better pace.
A couple days ago we had a brief opportunity to stop by a Maleku tribal village here in Costa Rica after a little canopy tour we did with the kids. I couldn’t help but notice that something was missing. Everything seemed very calm from the smoldering logs in the middle of the lodge to the soft dirt floor and the quiet nature of the people.
I thoroughly enjoyed the lack of rushing about.
What was missing was the same thing that has pleasantly been missing from our little journey so far. We have intentionally found a great place to just be still and it has been quit nice so far.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to get off the road and reflect for a moment. I could have easily psyched myself up for the next big role or the next big venture, but instead we’re taking some time to breath… reflect… and think.
My challenge today is to hang for a moment in the tension I feel between my desire to go hard after something I deem meaningful and the idea of slowing down and living life at a more calm and reflective pace. During this time away with my family this calm and reflective pace is the obvious choice, but what do I want things to look like when we return to our state-side life?
